Goodnight my friend |
June 18, 2012 |
Osaze was my classmate in Staff School and ISI. We last met in 1988 shortly after he left UNILAG. This news came to me as a big shock. Osaze is one of the few classmates one would never forget. My condolences to his entire family. May his soul rest in peace. Sleep well my friend.

I am still speechless and cannot imagine what Ibukun, Adesuwa and Ehioze or Egbe or Enoma are going through. May the Lord be their strength and grant them all the fortitude to bear your passing. You will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Oz. Ibukun - know that Oz touched a lot of lives and may God give you the strength to carry on as Oz would wish. May God continue to comfort you.

You were always full of surprises.
1st in JAMB when no one even new you were studying.
1st to bring international style financing to Nigeria.
Always quite in ISI and Unilag.
No one knew you were planing to take over the world.
You may have died young good friend but you lived more than most will ever dream of.
Stay blessed and rest easy. God will take care of your loved ones.

I did not know you but the moment i saw your obituary in the dailies, I knew u are one of the very very few exceptionals we have in this country..... The shock came more to me that you died in your sleep. May God help us all. Your untimely passage is a great shock. May you find peace and rest with the one who sent you as a blessing.
To Ibukun and the kids, my condolences. The Lord who sent Oz will surely grant you the fortitude to bear this heavy loss.
God bless you.

Gone too soon... |
March 8, 2012 |
Two things marked my first meeting with Osaze - genuine interest (in what I might or might not decide to do next) and genuine passion (for the future of Nigeria). He was unequivocal in encouraging me to move back home, and openly shared the ways in which he was determined to make his own decision to move back count. And, as if he knew that his might not be a long sojourn here on earth, Oz made certainly it count.... We talked for a few hours - he did not know me; he was meeting with me as a favour to a mutual friend; but he took time to share with me the ups and downs of living in Nigeria, and I left with a lesson on how pragmatism and idealism must comfortably co-exist in order for a move back to yield real fulfillment amd real results. We did stay in touch after that, and kept up with one another's progress, but I never did get around to thanking him for thatfirst conversation. Thanks, Oz, that pep talk made a difference...
To Ibukun, who I had occasion to meet only twice, my heart goes out to you, as do my prayers. May God, omniscient, comfort and guide you. May He stand with you, and strengthen you to raise your children in line with the hopes and dreams that you and Oz shared for them. Friends may get caught up in their own lives but this I can say, also without equivocation - God will not forget u, and he will not forget your children.
Osaze, may God - in his abundant grace -grant you eternal rest.
My best,
FMF
